Our Positions
Nations
The Humanity Movement respects nations, cultures, and national identities.
We believe that people can love their country while also recognizing their shared responsibility to humanity as a whole. Caring about one's nation and caring about the world are not opposing commitments; they are complementary.
Nations are an important way that people organize societies, preserve cultures, and express democratic self-government. They contribute to humanity's diversity and enrich our shared heritage.
At the same time, many of the challenges we face—including environmental change, pandemics, technological risks, armed conflict, and global inequality—extend beyond national borders. Addressing these challenges requires cooperation between nations as well as within them.
The Humanity Movement does not ask people to set aside their national identity. Instead, we encourage a broader perspective: one that recognizes every person as both a member of a nation and a member of humanity.
We believe that strong nations and effective international cooperation are not contradictory. Both are essential to building a peaceful, flourishing, and sustainable future.
Our loyalty is not divided between nation and humanity.
By helping humanity cooperate more effectively, we seek to create a future in which every nation can thrive.
