Say "I was wrong" once, out loud

This week, when you notice you were wrong about something — anything, however small — say so plainly to the person involved. No hedging, no "well, technically". Just: I was wrong about that.

Out in the world

  1. 1Watch for the moment. It comes more often than you expect once you are looking.
  2. 2Resist the urge to soften it with an explanation of why you were reasonable to think it.
  3. 3Say the sentence. Then stop talking.
  4. 4Notice what happens — in the other person and in you.
