The signature practice of this movement. Have one real conversation, built entirely around the question from Unit 2. Your job is to understand. That is all.

Out in the world

1Choose someone who sees an important thing differently from you, and whom you can talk to in person or by voice.
2Ask: "Tell me something about your perspective that you think people like me don't understand."
3Listen without interrupting. Let silences sit.
4Ask two follow-up questions that open rather than test.
5Reflect back what you heard, and ask if you got it right. Accept the correction.
6Thank them honestly. Do not give your own view unless you ask permission first, and consider saving it for another day.

What did they say that you had not understood before?

What was hardest for you in the conversation?

How did they seem by the end of it?

What would you do differently next time?
