Concede one real point
In your next disagreement, find one thing the other person is right about and say so explicitly, before you make your own case.
Out in the world
- 1Listen for the point that is actually correct. There nearly always is one.
- 2Say it plainly: "You're right about that, and it's a real problem with what I'm suggesting."
- 3Do not add "but" in the same sentence. Let it stand for a moment.
- 4Then make your case.
